A place to document my life, as I attempt to balance teaching with an active lifestyle. It is a blog full of trails and running, as I experience the loveliness of life with my husband.

Diablo Marathon- Pre-Race
(Moved above so that the entire report, pre and during, is all together. It was bothering me that the pre race report was after the race :) )
Yeah, I kinda like the sunrises, too. I can't seem to get my wife to appreciate them as much. Unless, of course, she's seeing them *before* going to bed, not just after waking up. ;-)
Reading your post and all of your worries about the race got me thinking about how much I've come to take these runs for granted. I've got to the point where I've accepted that I'm just a little deranged and I go out and run tremendous distances without too much concern. I'm usually confident that I can finish, but looking at this from the perspective of someone who hasn't done that many trail runs, or marathons, or even from the perspective of someone who doesn't run, what we accomplished on Sunday was pretty amazing.
I think my attitude comes from comparing myself to those people who ran the 50 miler on Sunday, as opposed to the people who spent their day on the couch watching football, or something like that.
It's all a matter of perspective. You did an awesome job. I had no doubts at all that you would be able to finish that race.
