And Again

Wow....no idea how that became so easy, but I just hammered out a fairly decent 5 page paper about how "the seemingly simple task of getting dressed becomes a complex reaction to the gendered social structure inherent in the child’s life, and shapes his or her own place within that social system." for the books Tom Sawyer, Huck Finn, and Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm. I love writing essays on children's literature.

I think I might hold onto my thesis over the weekend and try to edit more. I'm too much of a perfectionist!!!

But essentially, I'll be done with everything by Sunday.

This was the last paper I will ever write in college.

Ever

Glad it was a fun one :)

Thanks for dropping by my Blog. My daughter graduates tomorrow from Macalester College in St. Paul. I sure wish I was a runner like you at your age. I am 47 and didn't start runner till I was 32. I missed allot of time. Its great you like the long runs, I could never dream of running that far at 22. I was more concerned about where my next beer came from! Well good job on graduating. Enjoy the summer!

So are you going to charge $$$ for your rapt audience here on blogger to get to read your paper? I'm with backofpack, would love to read it -- maybe something with paypal and emailing?

Jeez, are we mentally deranged or what? Next thing you know we'll be running a bunch of marathons or something stupid like that :)

Congratulations! but it isn't totally in the bag until Sunday right?

Since when is Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn, "children's" literature. Of course, I read Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer as a kid, but it wasn't until I re-read Huck Finn as an adult the I really got the message. It's so very ironic that people want to ban this wonderful book.

Nice job on your essay. I struggled with every page I wrote while in college.

bret- congrat on the graduation of your daughter! I'm glad I started running early, so that I have my whole life left to look forward to the sport :)

michelle- hope you enjoy the essay!

hippo- lol...I'm sure no one would pay to read my writing ;) more likely that I'd have to pay other people to read it! Thanks for the congrats

Phil- the whole idea of children's books is sort of an odd one (and coincidently what I wrote my thesis on). Mark Twain's pieces are realy able to go either direction in terms of being children's books, though I would argue Tom Sawyer as being more of a child's book than Huck Finn, and would probably even go as far as to say that Huck Finn is more of a book for adults based on the issues it tackles.

But I love reading 'children's books' no matter how they're defined :)
