Body Fat %

So i got this tested, thinking that it would be 'fun'

I was wrong!

Despite having a bmi of 22.7 (very healthy!) according to the test my body fat % is

40%!!!

That is obese. According to the test, I am obese. How can I run marathons, work out 6 days a week, strength train twice a week, eat healthily, and have a healthy bmi, and be considered obese! It just doesn't make sense.

Okay...time to move on :)

Way to stay positive Addy, don't let the numbers bring you down girl!
I'm psyched to find your blog...looks like we have a few things in common...I am a teacher and just got into Ultra running a year or two ago. Also looking into starting a Girls on the Run program up here in the mountains.
I can't wait to see how the running goes for you. Hope to see you at TRT!

Don't tell my wife I told you this, but yes, you look great per your blog photo and if you've lsot weight since probably look even better, and I don't think that having a BMI of about 22 that it is possible your body fat percentage is 40%. It is unclear which method of calculating your body fat percentage was done (there are different methods).

gretchen- Thanks for being my first poster (and likely reader) ever :) I'll look for you at TRT!

mark- Thanks for the compliment. I've lost somewhere between 15 and 20 lbs since that photo was taken (not sure what I weighed at that time), but I don't think I really look overweight at this point. They used the calliper measuring technique, but I think it has to be wrong. I'm debating about asking for it to be redone with someone else, because the results just don't make sense!

Addy, Go ahead and get that BF% retested. There's no way that you're 40%. I'd be surprised if you're even over 20%.
